SYNOPSIS
In the breathtaking landscapes of Jackson Hole, Tami, an avid skier, finds her haven amidst the untouched powder and fresh mountain air. However, her joy is tempered by a lingering sense of not truly belonging—a struggle rooted in her mixed American and Argentine identity. As Tami reflects on her journey, the narrative delves into her upbringing in Vermont, where the clash between Argentine traditions at home and the assimilation into American culture at school creates a poignant contrast. The lack of diversity in the outdoor industry further distances her from her Hispanic roots, until a move to Jackson Hole brings unexpected connections. In Jackson, Tami discovers a vibrant Latino community, offering acceptance and understanding. Bonds with friends like Jr and Ivan become a source of belonging, reshaping her narrative in ways she never imagined. The ski haven becomes not only a place of adventure but a community where Tami feels truly at home. Six years into her life in Jackson, a compelling urge draws Tami back to Argentina. Reuniting with family after a prolonged absence, she navigates the familiar tastes and smells of her homeland, confronting the simultaneous warmth and sense of being an outsider. The film explores the contrast between the comfort of family and the reality of a life that continued in her absence. A pivotal aspect of Tami's journey is her connection to her grandfather, Blas. Forced to escape post-WWII Slovenia, Blas found purpose among the granite peaks of Argentina, leaving behind a legacy of pioneering backcountry trails and a ski shop. Tami's exploration of her family's history, alongside her cousin Niko, becomes a transformative experience, revealing shared passion and love for the outdoors. The film concludes with Tami leaving Argentina, cherishing the bittersweet memories and acknowledging the enduring ties to her roots. Through this ongoing self-discovery, the once puzzling divide between her American upbringing and Argentine heritage becomes clear—she is not one or the other but a Mezclada, a blend of both that defines her unique identity. "Mezclada" is a poignant adventure that explores the universal theme of identity, cultural belonging, and the transformative power of embracing one's roots.
